Best voice-first AI day planner apps compared (2026)

2026-08-26 · Written by TrillionVolt, the maker of TimeLift — we have a stake here, so we've listed where competitors win too.

Short version. Want free voice capture that turns into a schedule, with audio that never leaves for a third-party server? TimeLift. Need command-style edits like "move dinner to next Friday"? Day Flow (iOS). Teams, 55 languages, long voice memos? Voiset (paid). Already on TickTick and just want voice? TickTick AI Mode. Live in Notion? SpeakToPlan. Don't mind typing and need collaboration? Todoist is still the right answer.

What to look at when choosing a voice planner

1. Where your voice goes

Most "AI planners" send your speech to a cloud LLM to understand it. That buys strong context reasoning, at the cost of your audio (names, health, appointments) passing through servers — and usually a subscription. TimeLift takes the opposite trade: the device's built-in recognizer plus rule-based splitting inside the app. Details in the on-device explainer.

2. How many tasks one utterance becomes

The real difference is "one sentence → one item" versus "one call → several items, with times placed." Saying three things at once while walking is the natural case, so check that the app splits and extracts times.

3. What happens when you have too much

Schedule-everything apps (Motion, Voiset) fill your day; list-everything apps (Todoist) grow the list. TimeLift schedules only the top N and parks the rest — the right shape if a long list makes you close the app out of guilt.

App by app, honestly

TimeLift

Strengths: call-screen interface (you look like you're on the phone), one utterance auto-split into tasks, "meeting at 3" → 3 PM block, cognitive-load cap, core features free with no ads, no audio to third-party AI, English and Korean, iOS/Android/Web/Mac. Weaknesses: understanding is rule-based, so command-style edits ("move dinner to next week") don't work — you edit on screen. No team features. Free tier is 5 voice captures a day. The web app is currently behind an access code.

Day Flow (ZipoApps)

Strengths: understands intent, so you can edit your plan by talking; 4.5★ from 3.1K App Store ratings; Watch and Mac. Weaknesses: iOS only, $19.99/month is steep, cloud processing.

Voiset

Strengths: voice is a first-class input, 55 languages, team features, auto-scheduling. Weaknesses: no free plan, Base caps voice at 30 minutes/month, billed in euros.

SpeakToPlan

Strengths: direct Notion integration, schedule-conflict detection. Weaknesses: web-centric, limited mobile experience, pricing on the site.

TickTick

Strengths: calendar, habits, and tasks in one app; 2026 AI Mode added voice capture and audio transcription; cheap at $35.99/year. Weaknesses: voice is an add-on, not the phone-call-style flow.

Todoist

Strengths: natural-language dates, collaboration, the integration standard. Weaknesses: no in-app voice (relies on Siri/Assistant); December 2025 price increase (Pro monthly $7).

Frequently asked questions

Which voice-first AI planner apps are free?
TimeLift's core features are free (5 voice captures per day, no ads). TickTick and Todoist have free plans but their voice/AI features are mostly paid. Voiset and Motion have no free plan, only trials.
Which voice planner doesn't send audio to third-party AI servers?
TimeLift's mobile apps use only the speech recognition built into iOS and Android and make no external AI API calls. Day Flow, Voiset, and SpeakToPlan interpret speech with cloud AI.
Which voice planner is best for ADHD?
If long lists make you close the app, TimeLift's cognitive-load cap fits. If you prefer editing your day by natural-language commands, Day Flow is stronger.
Which voice planners work on Android?
TimeLift, Voiset, TickTick, and Todoist (via Assistant). Day Flow is iOS only.
